Overview & Highlights

If you're looking for a delightful culinary experience that captures the heart of Swiss comfort food, look no further than Imbiss und Take Away zum Tiergarten. Nestled in the charming town of Stein am Rhein, this takeout restaurant is a beloved gem among locals and visitors alike, offering an enticing mix of flavors in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The star of the show here is undoubtedly the Curry Wurst, hailed by customers like Lea Mc as "the best example of the dish" she's ever had—even coming from Germany! Each bite is a symphony of taste, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice, served alongside a hearty slice of the freshest bread that enhances the experience. But don't just take it from her; this dish alone has made Imbiss einen go-to spot for many.

For those in search of variety, the menu doesn't disappoint. The veal bratwursts stand out as an exceptional choice for meat lovers, notably praised by David Janashvili for their "next level" flavor, especially for those preferring to skip pork. And let's not forget the burgers and french fries, crafted with care by the charismatic chef Adi, who not only serves delicious food but also engages warmly with guests. Piyush Raj’s review captures the spirit of the place perfectly, noting Adi's dedication to both his culinary craft and customer experience.

As you step inside the quaint establishment, the atmosphere welcomes you with its friendly service and the comforting aroma of grilled meats. You might not find a plethora of seats, but the charm lies in its simplicity—you can even enjoy your meal standing at a nearby wall, soaking in the essence of the old city center. This al fresco dining adds a lovely local touch, as noted by Matan Barmats, who highlighted the peaceful environment paired with "fair prices" and an immaculate kitchen.

Imbiss und Take Away zum Tiergarten is not just about food; it's about community and connection. The enthusiastic staff, led by the ever-charming Adi, creates a friendly experience that makes you feel like a local—just ask Megan Wilcox, who appreciated the warm interactions while savoring her sandwich and fries. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or picking up wine to go, the personal touches make it a must-visit.

In a town rich with history and scenic views, this eatery stands out as a beacon of excellent cuisine and service. Be sure to make a pitstop at Imbiss und Take Away zum Tiergarten next time you're in Stein am Rhein—you won't regret indulging in the best food this picturesque town has to offer!

Perfect price. Perfect taste. Perfectly friendly service. If you haven't had Curry Wurst you should absolutely try it here. If you have had curry wurst you should still try it here because it is the best example of the dish I have ever had. And I live in Germany where it started. They serve it with a nice thick piece of the freshest bread. You know the food is good when the locals eat there. They knew some by name. I ordered the burger, smelled and saw the curry wurst and had to try it! The hamburger was equally delicious. I wonder if the 100% beef patties are locally sourced? They are delicious. The bread was soft, and warmly toasted with the perfect slightly crispy exterior. The best part was the interactions with the people, who I believe were the owners. They are friendly, relaxed, multilingual, and swiftly serve your food with a smile. 10/10 100% TOP! We will be back!

Are you kidding me!? What a great little treat! This was one of our favorite food joints throughout our trip to Switzerland this time, and we went to a bunch on michelin guide joints. The falkonbier - the local lager - was just perfect. Literally, couldn't design a better tasting beer. The veal bratwursts were just next level, especially given we don't eat pork. And the best part was tbe happy and slightly drunk group of locals that were having an amazing time on this Friday afternoon, and made us feel like old friends. Sitting outside amidst the gorgeous surroundings of Stein am Rhein, drinking, eating, hanging out.. I didn't want to leave!

We really enjoyed our food here, and getting wine to go! The woman working the counter was super nice. There aren't tons of seats, but we sat on a wall nearby and ate a good little sandwich and french fries. The house wine was great, too, and not too expensive to wander around with. We recommended this place to several people who asked us where we got our wine!

Adi has the best burgers and french fries in switzerland, the best we had in 5 days while in Europe. He is such an amazing chef and a great host. We had such a wonderful chat while he was serving and he is just a sweetheart .

A gem for quick local bites. You eat standing up, but everything is served beautifully and tastes amazing. Fair prices, super friendly staff, and you see the clean, well-run kitchen. Recommended!

Best food in Stein am Rhein! Every day a different special, typical swiss, very much recommended. Every week a new special that will make you fall in love

Small take away with nice atmosphere in the old city center...good fresh schweiz meat
